The Inspire – Training Program provides teachers and school administrators and ECE’s with the opportunity to obtain a board laptop or tablet for professional use both at home and at school. Eligible participants who complete 8 of the identified PD sessions will receive a board laptop.
What type of laptop or tablet will be issued? We have tendered a new notebook for the Inspire program. Participants will receive a HP ProBook x360 G2, a sleek, portable touch screen laptop that can convert easily from a notebook to a tablet, stand or tent and move seamlessly between school and home. How long are the PD sessions?
Each session is approximately 2 hours long and voluntary. They are generally scheduled from 4:00 to 6:00 and located in the Victoria Park Training Centre. However some sessions may be scheduled at different times and in different locations.
I already took the program, may I take it again?
Staff who received a device through Inspire in the first year of the program are eligible to renew their device this year through the Inspire Program. If an eligible staff member with a device from the first year of the program (2013-2014) attends 4 of the identified sessions, they will be eligible to upgrade to a board laptop. Some staff who received an iPad through our training program have requested the ability to upgrade to a board laptop. If an eligible staff member who has received an iPad attends 4 of the sessions below, they will be eligible to upgrade to a board laptop.
Are these Part 1, Part 2 type courses? Are there prerequisites?
No, none of the sessions are offered in parts. None of the sessions have prerequisites. The reason you see multiple versions of the same session is to allow staff a variety of session dates to choose from. You must take 8 different sessions to receive the laptop or tablet .
Who is eligible to take the program?
Currently the program is focused on improving student achievement through the use of information technology in instruction. The program is open to permanent teachers, ECE’s or administrators who are working 0.5 FTE contractually or greater.
Who owns the laptop or tablet?
The laptop laptop or tablet is owned by the board, but moves with you if you change schools. The laptop or tablet is yours to use as long as you are employed as a permanent teacher or administrator working 0.5 FTE or greater. It is understood that staff may also use this laptop for personal use.

Where did all the classes go?
Demand for the program is high and classes fill up quick. We will continue to schedule more sessions and announce them throughout the. So if you were not able to enroll in 1 or 2 sessions, we apologize. We will be sending out more soon.
I heard some people only need to take 6 sessions?
Staff who have Computers in the Classroom Part 1 or Integration of Information and Communication Technology Part 1 listed on their OCT certificate will receive two credited sessions towards their total.
What can I upgrade?
Staff can upgrade board iPads received during the first year of this program (2013). Some staff who received an iPad during the first year of our training program have requested the ability to upgrade to a board laptop/Surface Pro. If an eligible staff member who has received an iPad in the first year of this program attends 4 of the sessions below, they will be eligible to upgrade to a Surface Pro.
